The committee is currently evaluating the development of a mixed-use facility designed to serve as the home venue for a Frontier League baseball team while also accommodating a wide range of concerts, festivals, community events, and additional sporting activities. The committee recognizes that diversifying the facility’s use beyond baseball will enhance its value to the community and help offset overall development and operational costs.
A primary objective of the committee is to ensure that the facility generates sufficient revenue to cover both operational and capital expenses, thereby minimizing any financial burden on taxpayers. To support this goal, the facility would be actively programmed with events during periods when the Frontier League team is not in residence, maximizing utilization and revenue potential throughout the year.
The image on the left is a conceptual model made by Kenny Burns of the committee and is not the official design of the proposed mixed-use facility.
The committee believes that a mixed-use facility represents a more financially prudent investment for the community, as it would support a diverse range of events rather than serving a single purpose. Accordingly, the facility should be designed with flexibility in mind, allowing it to accommodate a wide variety of uses beyond minor league baseball.
Potential programming for the venue could include music concerts, festivals, band competitions, car shows, collegiate and high school baseball tournaments, craft fairs, holiday light displays, seasonal attractions such as haunted houses, and Fourth of July celebrations, among others. The facility could also serve as a venue for charitable initiatives, including community fundraising events and charity softball games.
Additionally, depending on its location, the facility could function as a designated viewing area for municipally sponsored events, such as air shows and fireworks displays, further enhancing its value as a community gathering space.
The location of the proposed mixed-use facility has not yet been determined. The committee will collaborate with city and county officials to identify and evaluate suitable site options. A comprehensive feasibility study will be conducted to provide data-driven insights into potential locations and overall project viability.
As the project advances, multiple sites will be carefully assessed to ensure the facility is optimally positioned to serve the community. Key considerations will include traffic access and roadway infrastructure, parking capacity, site size, and overall project cost.
